River Rise

"Since you were little, I always knew you were destined to be great at something." Words from my Dad after asking me what I planned to do beyond my current job. At first his words kind of cut me a little, almost to say that I wasn't living up to his expectations for my life....Funny how those same words mean so much more a year later. You ever hear something and not hear it at the same time. Sometimes our circumstances, situations, or in my case, complacency can cloud our view so much so that we can not even hear. My dad spoke those words to me when my life was at a stalled place. I really did not feel like life was going anywhere. You know the place not really moving forward or backwards just still, yet my father saw something in me that I could not anymore (Back story: I was the All-American girl most of my life). My SEED of destiny!!! You see everyone has one because God planted it before our conception; but, it's a matter of tapping into yours to get it watered to produce its fruit filled potential. Hence the river rising (frustration) to water my seed (destiny). As I lay awake the other night like a little kid the night before Christmas, I once again got excited for what the future holds for me. I remembered my dad's words and guess what Pops...now I can see it too. I'm Destined for Greatness.

THANKS DAD FOR BELIEVING IN ME WHEN AT TIMES I STOP BELIEVING IN MYSELF. I LOVE YOU POPPA Happy Father's Day

This quote(slightly paraphrased) sums up my thoughts at this time:
"At the point of commitment, all the universe conspires to help you accomplish your purpose." --Goethe

No More Band-aids!!!!

"Take that band-aid off so some fresh air can get to it." I had heard this a thousand times growing up after falling and getting a scrape or cut. I did not know it then, but now I understand it. There was something Mama knew that I did not as a child. She knew the longer I kept the affected area covered the longer it would take to heal with chances of becoming infected. In many ways, our lives are the same way. We have been wounded and bruised by circumstances, situations, and people. Instead of healing from these things, we chose to cover them with band-aids like a fake smile, a hard exterior, or my particular brand of coverage, humor. The more the area we covered stayed unexposed the more we forgot about it until someone touched it, then the area got larger. I once heard, only a fool would put a band-aid on cancer, but so many of us have done this exact thing. In essence, we became familiar with our dysfunction in a comfort zone. I'm learning these days God cannot heal what I do not reveal. So I hope you will join me in saying NO MORE BAND-AIDS!!!

Time to leave our comfort zones....Enjoy!!!

Don't Stop Now!!!

An Olympic hurdler will train for four years sometimes longer for one race of a lifetime. After years of intensive preparation, he will enter the arena with a goal of becoming a winner at the finish line. Once the race has begun and he encounters the first hurdle, he will not just look at it, turn and walk away. No, he elevates above the hurdle to reach his goal--the finish line. In life, we sometimes come to hurdles or obstacles which though we are prepared to overcome, we often walk away in fear, doubt,& faithlessness. We simply walk away from our destiny because we failed to exercise our faith and excel above the "hurdles" of life. Today, I challenge you, as I challenge myself, rise above your next hurdle because there's a race to be won here.

Live the life He created you for by BECOMING WHO YOU ARE.

Where is you STING?

"Sticks & Stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me"...lie you tell, lol. This simple statement has caused more people to walk in denial with major complexities about who they are in life. "Fat" & "Ugly" were two words that held me in bondage for years. Supposedly in jest, these were harsh words to hear as a kid by other relatives and slowly they diminished my self-esteem each time they were uttered. Though when I heard them recently that same sting did not resonate with me. Could it be I know who I am now? More importantly, I know Whose I am now, so death's sting can no longer harm me. Maybe your words were poor, stupid, dumb, lazy, skinny, or nerd(got that one too). However, when you understand who you really are in Christ nothing can sway you to believe otherwise. He has completed each of us in Him. So I emphatically say (with boisterous laughter), "death, where is your sting?"

**Sidenote: If you interact with kids in anyway (your kids, nieces, nephews, etc.), be careful of the words you say to them because your words shape their future. Always stride to say affirming words to them even when they error. Uplift & encourage at all costs.

Good Friday...

Some call today Good Friday; I simply say, "Thank you Jesus for dying on the cross for my sins and loving me before I knew you."

If you don't know Jesus, I invite you to know of Him.

For Me,
He is a DeliverER, Friend, Confidante, Keeper, Provider, Redeemer, Peace, Joy, Guidance, Direction,Life and so much more.

I love that GUY!!!

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[a] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

Have a great RESURRECTION weekend because the joy is the fact of HIM getting back up.
