Mirror, Mirror on the Wall
"What?! Oh my goodness." This was my response to my mom telling me she had thought of naming me, Mercedes.(Thank God for a brother who wanted to name his baby sis, Crystal...lol but I digress.) After finishing our conversation, I pondered upon who Mercedes would have become. Would she have been me and I her? Would she have been as compassionate about people as me or conceited and vain at heart? My mom says she believes, I would have still been who I am. Then it started to settle in...I am simply Crystal, no comparison needed. I love who I am and adore who I am becoming each day. Often times, we find ourselves comparing ourselves to others and the "what ifs" in our lives. Wondering upon that mysterious factor that could have reshaped our very being. The star athlete who says,"what if I had gone pro?" The nurse who wonders, "What if I had gone on to medical school?" The young lady or man who wonders what if they had engaged in conversation with the one who just smiled so sweetly at them. British writer,Douglas Adams, once said, "I seldom end up where I want to go but I always end up where I need to be." Where you are right now may only be for a specific time because God is leading you to your destiny. It may not be where you want to be but I'm sure if God has you there, it has a purpose. So next time, you begin to compare yourself, Stop & think "I'm where I need to be for where I'm going."
Check out Jeremiah 29:11 for more.

Enjoy the Journey
Yesterday, as I was driving into work, I noticed a hitchhiker alongside the highway.
There was something different about this one. Although he was waiting & hoping for a ride, he was also looking around at the scene nature offered around him. In life, we are really all just hitchhikers waiting on that preordained vehicle God has created to catapult us into our destiny. Often times, we find waiting (patience) & hoping (faith) to be a bit much for our journey. We get frustrated, tired, and discombobulated because our medium has not come yet. Waiting on your purpose, career, spouse, house, business, or finances can be disheartening at times but take heart today. Though you are not there yet, look around and enjoy the scenic view on your journey. You will be surprised at the "God-treasures" you will find along the way. Peace and Love.

This song is just a "pick me up" song....ENJOY!!!

Life Gets Slippery
His name was Willie Matthews. I called him, "My Buddy". He was 55 and, I, a mere 2 years old. He would be my first real friend, companion, and confidante. Sadly within the next year, an untimely death would cause him to be the first friend to leave my life abruptly. For the next two decades, I would spend my life in shallow waters in the area of relationship and connecting with others.
Author, H. Jackson Brown, Jr., once said "Life is slippery, take my hand." Knowingly so, life would offer its pitfalls, failed relationships, disappointments, and disparities; however where there is love, life would prevail. Genuine love would offer me an olive branch in the form of His children's hand. Though society teaches us to get all we can for self & keep all others at an uneasy distance, REACH a hand out because, hey, life gets slippery.
You might be surprised to find a hand waiting to connect with you.

Getting Back to You.
In nature, salmon will travel back to their original birthplace to give birth to their own offspring. In looking closely at this, there is something quite meaningful in this natural occurrence. You see, in life, we often have to get back to God, our Creator, in the creative place we were produced from in order to give birth to the true purpose in our life. Like the salmon, we may sometimes have to swim upstream against the current just to get to our rightful position to see purpose manifest in us. So today, if you feel like a stranger in a foreign land, wandering aimlessly, in search of something, get back to you...He's waiting inside.
